Learn About Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Treatment for alcohol addiction at Bradford Recovery Center in Millerton, PA

Alcohol addiction, clinically known as alcohol use disorder, refers to the presence of a physical dependency on alcohol. Addiction develops when an individual builds a tolerance to a particular substance, meaning that it takes more of that substance to reach the desired effect. If left unmonitored, what began as a simple enjoyment of alcohol may lead to a potentially debilitating condition.

Someone who suffers from an alcohol addiction often does not have control over how much and how frequently they consume the substance. An individual who struggles with an alcohol addiction may think about alcohol frequently, may use alcohol to manage intense emotions, may feel that they need alcohol in order to have fun, and may make poor decisions while intoxicated. Typically, an individual who suffers from an addiction to alcohol feels like they need to consume alcohol in order to make it through the day and are unable to cease use of the substance on their own.

Like other addictions, alcohol addiction is a serious condition that can negatively affect a person’s life and well-being. Someone who suffers from an addiction to alcohol may prioritize drinking over loved ones and may neglect important responsibilities such as taking care of their children, fulfilling basic tasks, and taking care of themselves. If left untreated, alcohol addiction can lead to physical, emotional, and mental turmoil.

By seeking treatment at Bradford Recovery Center, located in Millerton, Pennsylvania, someone suffering from an alcohol addiction is taking the critical first steps toward recovery.
